I aim to make the beginning stages of labor a comforting and empowering experience for my moms/birthing people. I love to be alongside as support for the entire journey to ensure you feel safe and well supported.
My techniques are culturally competent and only provided with the consent of the mother/birthing person. Birth is a sacred and intimate space and I ensure my clients feel safe throughout the entire process by making sure their wants and needs are number one! Not only do I provide comfort techniques to all my clients to help alleviate pain, I also equip their support system so they can also be involved in the process.
As Black women continuously suffer at THE highest rates of maternal mortality, I make it my duty to use my voice and my presence as a doula to ensure my clients feel heard and seen.
As active labor progresses I provide support to both the mom/birthing person along with their support system. Support can be in the form of allowing the partner to leave for sleep and come back to offering positions to assist with more progression. Along with the prenatal preparation, I make sure the birth plan is present and that my clients are making well informed decisions.
“Nia was very kind and patient while helping me get ready for the birth of my second child in 2020. Due to the pandemic we had to do everything virtually, but she was always available and gave me and my husband great birthing tips to help prepare for labor and delivery. We even FaceTimed during labor LOL. I really appreciate all she did to make the process less stressful."
This particular video was helpful throughout my pregnancy with my back pain. As you know, my back was bothering me from my first trimester...this stretch was my go to when the pain became unbearable. It was also helpful during labor, before my epidural.
I was able to stand, leaning on the side of the bed and do this stretch
This workout helped my water break 🤣!! I was sitting on the ball, after my 40min walk, rolling from side to side and then my water broke. This workout helped with my pelvic pains throughout my pregnancy as well. It relieved my pains and relaxed my entire body.
"Lastly, the work that you helped me with during my labor and delivery, was very helpful. You taught me ways to breathe properly and try to focus on the pain. I was able to get through the 1st 8hrs of labor, then I needed the epidural for the rest 🤣, I was strong enough after that"
